This necklace is handcrafted with striped Venetian "watermelon" beads. Dating back to the 19th century, Watermelon beads were highly coveted in Ghana and other African countries for trade. Due to their rarity in American markets, this piece is one of a kind. Each bead has a unique history and may display tiny scratches or dings from previous use, adding to their charm and character.
