Thank you, so much, for your participation. This raffle is now closed! The grand total raised is $3800; this number includes any and all tips. Two $1900 donations were made: one to Focus Congo and the other to the Voices for Congo GFM.
The Artists for Congo Raffle is designed to provide emergency relief support for the millions of internally displaced people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a result of war, famine, lack of basic sanitation for many, and the plunder of natural resources, the UN reports that DRC is facing one of the world's biggest humanitarian crises. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the size and scope of this crisis but 14 artists came together do what we can to make a tangible contribution. We have done the research, provided the prizes, and will handle the paperwork. What we need you to do: give as much as you can and spread the word to your family, friends, and communities!
Participants in the multi-item raffle choose their potential prizes by purchasing tickets that correspond to each of the 16 items available in the raffle. Each ticket is $10 or purchase 3 tickets for $25. There is no limit to either the number of tickets you purchase nor the items you choose to have your name entered for.
All proceeds (less processing fees) will be split between Focus Congo, a non-profit organization based in Germany led by Congolese digital creator, Pappy Orion and the Voices for Congo Go Fund Me organized by poet and activist Melodie Ntumba Mutombo in collaboration with Focus Congo. This organization has an excellent disbursal record (97%) and several on-the-ground, in-progress projects actively providing direct aid to displaced men, women and children in Congo.
